The EU’s decision on the minimum age

Posted 27 February 2016 by CHIS

Claude Moraes MEP is the Chair of the LIBE Committee of the European Parliament. CHIS has written to Claude Moraes to ask for a meeting to discuss the EU’s decision to introduce a new law which would make 16 the minimum age at which a young person could decide for themselves whether or not to join Facebook or use other online services. Potentially this conflicts with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and it was taken without any consultation with interested parties.
